Whoever you clipped that story from was wrong on several facts. First, Radiohead's record contract expired with the release of their most recent album in 2003. They currently have no contract, and hence, no record label. Second, Radiohead has never sold any of their stuff on iTunes, and they seem to be getting along just fine. Third, radio stations haven't bothered to play anything Radiohead has released since 1997 and MTV is only slightly more relevant than Britney Spears.

I clipped it from tuaw.com, usually a reliable source, but I guess it wouldn't have taken too long to check iTunes Store for myself. Apologies.
Radiohead may be smart guys, might be getting along just fine, and are almost certainly better off without a major record label, but my accusation of pretension still stands. If it's really about refusing to sell the music unless the music is sold as a complete album, it still seems like pretensiousness to me.
