Ummm...I do a lot of video editing in Final Cut Pro. I'm not sure I follow as to why the Intel GPU is going to hurt video editing. As for capturing and exporting, that's all handled by the firewire bus, not by your graphics card. As for viewing on screen during editing, well, video is only 30fps. Any video card, shared or otherwise, can certainly keep up with that. I think gamers are the only ones who will not like the shared graphics processing.

Alan, read the specs. The MacBook clearly supports monitor spanning (something the iBooks never did without a hack).

This is why PC users hate us mac user (16yr mac user here). Now we are complaining about color. Its a tool, get over it worry about more important things in life.

Well, your mileage may vary ;-) I dunno, I only tried a black MacBook for the first time today in store (left my 4y.o. son's beaten-up old 12" powerbook for repairs... again!)

But yeah, that shared graphics chip's gotta weigh heavily on video editing, put a dent in gameplay, and may not support dual monitors in anything other than mirror mode (ie no virtual desktop across two screens.)

We've got one of the white MacBooks here at the house, and I've used my Canon ZR500 MiniDV camcorder with it. It works, but the quality is somewhat lessened by the crummy Intel shared memory graphics chip that they used.
I actually get better results on my 1.2 Ghz iBook G4 for video editing purposes.

I gotta ask one real quick question...how well does that mac do with video editing like from a miniDV camera to say iMovie?

Having different style headphones would mean less automatic recognition on the street.

I've heard that argument but I doubt it was deliberate, more something that Apple realised once iPods were everywhere.

If you're prepared to create a new buzz around the choice of black or white in iPods and now MacBooks, it's silly to think that people won't recognise black iPod headphones once they've seen a few pairs.

Having only white headphones was smart for other reasons though. White headphones = ipod to just about everyone now no matter which revision they have. Having different style headphones would mean less automatic recognition on the street.

"You and me" is not an Americanism, it is correct grammar in some contexts. It should be used when "me" is correct on its own.

eg. "That is something that bothers me.", to include Alan in this would be correctly phrased, "That is something that bothers Alan and me." it would not be correct to say, "That is something that bothers I" nor "That is something that bothers Alan and I."

Learn to speak english! or sorry is this just one of those bothersome Australianisms...?

Come on Joe, cables is cables, and I'm sure Apple doesn't manufacture them; it outsources all that to component manufacturers in the thirld world who supply cables etc for a fraction of the price it can be done in the US.

One possible reason why there's no black cables could be because it turns one order for 50 bazillion white cables into two orders of 25 million white cables and 25 million black cables, at which point Apple loses some kind of volume discount.

Thanks for the kind words about Australia too. I know I speak on behalf of all my fellow Australians when I say you're very welcome to come visit. Staying is another matter, however!

Australia is a country I would really love to visit one day.

Anyway, I agree that Apple should provide black cables to go with the black macbook. However, only Apple makes white cables. If you purchase 3rd party mouse, CF readers, external harddrive, etc. They all come with black cables. So if you have black macbook, perfect! But, if you have a white macbook, imac, etc. You got the same problem. White/black combination. Well, To me is no big deal albeit annoying.

Agreed, I have a black PowerBook G3 and I would love a black usb cable to go to my iPod Nano so everything would match. :)
